What is the process like?

CONSULTATION We start by having an initial free consultation via phone. During that phone call we will discuss the basics of your project (whether you will be remodeling/renovating or getting a custom design) and set up a time for an in-person consultation.

PRE-DESIGN After your consultation we will begin discussing design concepts along with sketches. This includes coming to your property and measuring your space ( as needed).

SCHEMATIC DESIGN Once we have all information needed we then will collaborate to create a design tailored to your specifications.

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT Once the design has been finalized we will then generate your computer drawings—using building information modeling (BIM). Here at CDS we use the latest version of REVIT.

CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTATION After the design development phase we turn over any information to our expert team of engineering consultants (if needed) to complete your drawings for the permitting process. Once everyone has completed their designs we will present you with a set of drawings that are permit ready.

When can you start?

We like to be transparent and upfront with our clients, so we will discuss a timeframe to start BEFORE you sign a contract with Colbert Design Solutions.

After a contract has been signed and a retainer has been paid we will start on the date discussed.

How long will it take to finish my project?

We typically quote 4-6 weeks from the completion of schematic design. However, that duration can vary depending on revisions during the schematic or design development phases and/or the availability of our consultants.
